How Breathwork & I Began
This all started in 2022. I was living a life of unconsciousness. I was going through the daily motions, thinking that I was living at my limit. I was in the hospitality industry at the time. I loved the industry for the spark of joy that would wash over me from creating something and then seeing that creation be enjoyed by others.
But it got to the point where my surroundings were so toxic, and I couldn't see it for myself - so my body let me know. I woke up one morning to my upper body muscles completely locked up, I was very much the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. I then returned to the healing processes I’ve used in the past; went to a chiropractor and decided to sign up for a subscription to monthly yoga & meditations. Within this app, I found they had breathwork journeys.
I said ‘screw it let's see what this is’
I experienced a huge shift in my life. I found that my breath became a door to deep inner healing, allowing me to release my pent-up emotions, old wounds, and recent traumas that had been holding me back for far too long and hindering me physically.
It was like this gentle but forceful moment that helped me reconnect it. Who I wanted to be and didn't want to be anymore. So I opened my eyes and saw a new version of my life, and it led me to pursue this as another avenue to provide these amazing experiences and help other people in their lives.
And that's what is amazing about breathwork is its capacity for somatic healing and trauma release. Our bodies hold onto memories, emotions, and past experiences, and they get locked up in our muscles and tissues and then manifest in our lives as tension, stress, anxiety, overwhelm, all the things so many of us struggle with day-to-day.
It’s why I named my business Mudita.
